본 연구는 간호사의 업무흐름 중단의 속성과 선행요인 및 결과를 파악하기 위한 목적으로 시행된 개념분석 연구로 Walker와 Avant의 개념분석 절차를 사용하였다. MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE, KISS 및 RISS 데이터베이스를 통해 2018년 8월 이전에 발표된 문헌을 검색하였고, 검색어는 “interruption”, “work or task”, “nurse”를 사용하였다. 연구결과 간호사의 업무흐름 중단의 속성은 새로운 업무가 끼어듦, 업무 우선순위에 대한 인지적 전환, 업무의 연속성이 끊어지거나 연속성을 끊음, 재개해야 할 작업이 존재함으로 확인되었다. 간호사의 업무흐름 중단의 선행요인은 계획되지 않는 사건의 침입, 기존 업무의 수행 의도를 잊어버리는 내·외적 요인, 예측하기 힘든 업무환경, interruption을 업무 과정의 일부로 여기는 풍토였다. 간호사의 업무흐름 중단의 결과로는 업무 만족도의 저하, 업무오류 유발, 업무 완료 시간의 연장, 업무 생산성 저하, 업무 스트레스 유발 및 필요한 정보를 적시에 전달함이었다. 이로써 본 연구는 간호사의 업무흐름 중단으로 인한 부정적 결과를 줄이는 방안을 마련하는데 기초 자료를 제공하고, 환자안전과 간호사의 업무능률 향상을 위한 지식체 제공에 이바지할 것이다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the attributes, antecedents, and consequences of nurse’s workinterruptions.
Methods: Walker and Avant’s concept analysis method was used to analyze this concept. Relevantarticles published before August 2018 were searched through MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE, KISS, and RISS databasesusing “interruption,” “work or task,” and “nurse” as keywords.
Results: The attributes of work interruptionby nurses were as follows: 1) new tasks to do; 2) cognitive transition of work priorities; 3) loss of work continuity;4) tasks to be resumed. The antecedents of work interruption were intrusion of unplanned events, internal and externalfactors that result in nurses forgetting their original intentions, an unpredictable work environment, and cultural climatewhere interruptions are considered as a part of the work process. The consequences of work interruption weredecline in job satisfaction, trigger of work errors, lengthening of work completion time, decline in work productivity,increase in work stress, and delay of transferring needed information in a timely manner.
Conclusion: The resultsof this study provide basic data to reduce the negative consequences of nurses’ work interruptions, and contributeto expanding the knowledge necessary for improving patients’ safety and nurses’ performance.
